”He’s dead.”
“Who’s dead?”
“Aldo Costa.”
“Shame, this is my mourning face. What the fuck does that have to do with me? Donnie’s stepped up by now hasn’t he?”
“No, that’s the thing. Ben’s challenging him and Fabian’s challenging him and...”
“It’s a big fucking mess... I get it.”
“So... With no acting boss I was thinking...”
“Anything involving your brain will be shit. So don’t start. Let me do the thinking and then we’ll talk to Trey.”
“Well think fast because here he comes... You don’t think the Bellini’s know do you?”
“If they do then this whole fucking thing is about to become a rat race.”
In the last ten years the crime rate in New York City has increased so drastically that people have no idea what to do. It seems as though you can’t even take your kids to the dentist without getting a hygienist with mafia connections. No criminal can do anything without operating for some crime boss and no judge can pass a sentence without getting an under the table payoff. Five famous families have run the underground criminal activities since the 20s. Nothing came stop them now, not at the height of their power. They’ll ally with you to get your resources and then turn around to stab you in the back for your power. As was the case with Aldo Costa.
The weakest of the five families the Costa sided with everyone for everything. However, through their valuable connections and friends they were able to secure prominent business accounts with companies and landowners that would make for a profitable outcome to a once dying family. ( You could thank the dying thing to the only Costa son who preferred prostitutes to actually settling down. ) But none the less they had contracts and deals with people that made the other families jealous, specifically a contract with a pharmaceutical company that got illicit drugs imported from Canada.
Though this was not to say it was the reason Aldo Costa was shot to death in his home, but it can be assumed. Either way, the acting boss of the family was gone and suddenly there was a power struggle for the position. Many of the members felt that the only living Costa wasn’t worthy to fill his father’s shoes. They were fairly large shoes for a fairly small-footed man.
So while the Costa’s struggled for a Boss the other families saw their weak point and started planning strategies for stealing what should have been rightfully theirs. Sure, the crime rate had been climbing over the past few years but with one simple hit the rate skyrocketed. Detectives were swamped with cases of dead bodies, all done ceremoniously à la Five Families. With such a rise in drug imports, deaths, and even all those mediocre activities the Police needed back up so they called in the FBI to locate all the active mobsters and arrest them. Maybe if they could figure out a way to get a mass warrant all the deaths would cease. Or maybe it’s just wishful thinking. Until then, this is our UNGODLY HOUR.
“I think we need to take out the De Luca Family.”
“ Why? They pose no threat.”
“Not until someone puts out a hit for the Boss.”
“And you think that order is gonna come from the Luigi?”
“Oh it’s definitely going to be coming from Luigi.”
“Let’s take them out.”
“Let’s take them all out.”
